UChicago South Side Food Security

The University will use on-campus dining facilities to prepare meals that will be distributed in partnership with the Greater Chicago Food Depository to various locations within the University’s nine-community footprint on the South Side (Douglas, Grand Boulevard, Greater Grand Crossing, Hyde Park, Kenwood, Oakland, South Shore, Washington Park, and Woodlawn).

On average, 3,000 meals, including breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, will be provided daily through June 12 (225,000 total), following strict public health and safety protocols regarding social distancing and sanitation.

Residents of the South Side in need of food assistance may pick up boxed meals prepared by the University at a variety of distribution sites (see “sites where University will distribute meals” link below), all of which are current Greater Chicago Food Depository partners. For a complete list of Greater Chicago Food Depository distribution locations, please visit Chicago Food Bank or call 773-247-3663.

Please note we are not able to offer home delivery to individual residents.
