Help at Home

For many, living at home can mean getting some additional help around the house.

The Department of Aging offers a wide-range of in-home support services for qualifying adults (Here, or call 312-744-4016).

Contact the Senior Helpline (800-252-8966) to make a referral for homemaker/adult day services and see how many hours of subsidized care you may be eligible to receive. There are also many private support services as well, including Homemakers, Adult Day Services & Private Duty Care. Homemakers/Adult Day Services can aid in routine housekeeping, shopping, errands, meal preparation, and personal care. Private Duty Caregivers are typically for individuals who need more hours of coverage, including companionship and overnight care. Home Health Care refers to various trained health professionals that make home visits, covered by either Medicaid, Medicare, private pay sources, or referrals.
